My name is Shadowlight (username Shadowlight.8715), I have geared 80s of all classes all with their own vanity items e.g. Mist weapons, Corrupted weapons, esp the latter characters. I know it's not a 'necessity' for me, but I wouldn't mind upgrading all their trinkets from green to pink (yes, I'm a cheapo, not really a fan of paying a few g for +5 more precision or something, also got 8 chars, ain't nobody got time fo dat).
In order of level maxing:
Architura (asura engineer)
Harper Bradley (human ele)
Alexander Drakeart (human thief)
Princess Kiya (norn guardian)
Oskar Vanadir (sylvari warrior)
Brian Mcgregor (human mesmer)
Fury Sharpclaw (charr ranger)
Sieses (human necro. Ain't making any more humans after this!)
I don't really have a single "main", but I do use warrior, guardian, mesmer (for dungeons) and ranger (for open PvE and WvW) the most. Currently, I only have one fotm character which is warrior (PR31 at the time of writing) and that is because my old guild had too many guardians and not enough warriors. After my warrior reaches PR48 or something, I may just start working on guardian.
I'm quite open to the idea of objective and unbiased discussion about builds (so ignoring preference for playstyle and all that). Through playing all classes, I have learnt over time to approach builds in this way (for example, I used to "prefer" a condition pistols build on my engineer, but after playing other characters, I realised that the dps was actually quite bad and now I go for a more direct damage grenade build). Basically I run whatever's the most efficient for the party run, because it's not just about you when there's other people involved.
From playing, I have developed an approach to builds which is generally "dps with a side of support without gimping dps too much", with "support" being boons and utilities like condition cleanses and reflects, rather than healing (because this isn't WoW). I try to melee whenever I can (there are quite a lot of reasons why melee > ranged). I also bear in mind what classes excel at. For example, engineer is king of vuln stacking by far, so I dedicate my engineer to that, and guardians have invaluable reflects, and that's why my guardian is traited for consecrations. However, I'm always on the lookout to improve my builds, so if anyone puts forth a build which has reasoning as to why it's better, I'd be happy to hear it.
I come from a mainly dungeons background, not so much fotm, so I look to grow in that area with you guys.
So far, the runs have been a better experience than with 100% public groups which I am happy about. My home server is Sea of Sorrows. I'm from Sydney, Australia and my timezone is GMT+10, although I am quite a night owl. Outside of GW2, I am quite a documentary/music/articles/Youtube consumer, although I do like Skyrim as well (half my screen is usually covered by GW2 and the other half by a browser with 15 tabs open on average lol). I also like tea. I swear, if I weren't Australian, I'd be British.
